Marketing Students Learn by Producing the Event

About Us

ELIZABETHTOWN, September 19, 2008—First Federal Savings Bank announced that the first annual First Federal Bowl will feature the John Hardin High School and North Hardin High School football teams squaring off at 7:30 PM on October 3rd at John Hardin’s Bulldog Stadium.

First Federal Savings Bank is the named sponsor of this Hardin County rivalry game and will make a donation to both schools’ athletic departments. This donation will help fund and support all sports at the two schools. The winner of this annual game will receive the First Federal Bowl trophy for display for a full year until the next year’s contest.

As part of the annual event, the host school is given the opportunity to produce the event on behalf of First Federal and challenged to maximize game attendance. This year’s game is being produced by Connie Bee’s Marketing class at John Hardin High School.

The students created the logo for the event (pictured), created a newspaper ad, and wrote and recorded a radio commercial to promote the game.

The students were given presentations by First Federal marketing management, as well as by local media representatives from The News Enterprise/The Turret, WAKY/WLVK, and WQXE/WULF. During these presentations, students were given an opportunity to interact with these media experts and to learn about how event, newspaper, and radio marketing is used by companies like First Federal.

The logo will also appear on a game t-shirt, produced by Duke’s Sporting Goods, which will be sold to benefit the respective schools’ football booster clubs.

The t-shirts will be made available for students to purchase at school the week of September 22nd, the students’ radio commercial will run the week of September 29th, and their newspaper ad will appear in The News Enterprise on Thursday, October 2nd.
