New Highland Elementary School held their annual Open
House and Ready Festival on Thursday, July 31st. The festival is held to bridge together school, family, and the community. Several
hundred children, parents, and teachers attended this year's festival. Booths were set up for local businesses to come and share information
and award students with informational material, school supplies and door prizes.
First Federal’s children’s savings account mascot, Moola Moola made a special appearance at the festival to teach children the world of money and saving. First Federal and Moola Moola donated duffel bags filled with school supplies and four savings bonds. Moola Moola gave the following children prizes: Zowie Frawley-Knox, winner of $100.00 savings bond, Birclea Thomas, Corey Williamson, and Emily Rauch, each winners of $50.00 savings bonds.
The festival helped kick off this year’s school year. Children were able to meet their teachers and visit their new classroom. It was wonderful to see the community gathered together to support New Highland Elementary.
